Copelan Insurance Agency, Inc. was started by Edward H. Copelan in August of 1969, with one employee. From the beginning, our agency has been dedicated to providing a market of all types of insurance at competitive prices. The insurance protection was to be backed by service provided by trained professional people. This philosophy proved to be successful in the beginning and it continues today. Our market area is Albany and it’s surrounding SW Georgia counties. Our goal is to be the local agency that members of the community seek out for advice, information, and education on insurance issues because they trust the knowledge, professionalism and accuracy of our people.
Although we have met many obstacles of change, we have continued to increase our business. In the mid 1980’s we were faced with the automation issues of each of our insurance companies requiring us to be automated. Each company insisted we use their specific automation vendor, so we worked with three computer systems that required 13 employees. Today, we have 6 employees and one networked computer system with which we do twice the volume of business.
In this age of buyouts and company mergers, many of the companies we represent are enhancing and/or changing either the products they offer or the services they provide. We must be educated and kept up to date on these changes so that we can continue to offer our clients the best and most cost efficient products for their specific needs. We must communicate effectively with our clients, approach problems with a “can do” attitude, listen to our staff and correct immediately any problems we encounter. We, at Copelan, must remain resourceful and keep our clients happy in order to survive and continue to grow.
It has been our experience that people appreciate personal service. When clients call or come by our office, they are greeted with a pleasant and helpful voice. Our Customer Service Representatives are knowledgeable and friendly. Most of our employees have been with us over 10 years. Our clients have developed a friendship with our employees. We, at Copelan, are building relationships, not just sales.
The members of our staff at Copelan serve the community in a variety of important areas. We are active and supportive in our churches and children’s schools. It has been our pleasure to serve Albany and the surrounding area for 45 years. Our mission is to continually strive to improve our operations and performance by serving our clients and our community to the best of our ability for many years to come
